Dec 26, 2018. #7. The revised amount is 2.9 litre ( this is engraved on the any new gearbox on the differential cover). The box drains quite well so I would put in that amount, even 3.0 litre does not seem unreasonable. Providing its a thin GL4 oil 75W-85 or 75W-80 it should be OK.
I have a 1989 2.0 petrol motor Ducato and I use oil specified from Talbotoc website. I changed oil in gbox about 4 years ago to synthetic. (sorry cant remember specifics) and I have had no problems. Level has been constant and I filled it above the mark as recommended on website to help lubricate 5 th gear. Mileage on van over 132k miles.
